Power plants
The notoriously restricted space conditions prevailing in power plant construction frequently call for the use of pipe bends. The large number of piping systems between the steam generator and the turbine are efficiently realized with the aid of specially designed pipe bends. Multiple or three-dimensional bends reduce the number of girth welds required. This is a great benefit, for girth welds in power plants are subject to regular time- and cost-intensive re-inspection. Pipe bends in grade P91 / P92 steel are used in conventional power plants with live steam temperatures of up to +600 °C as well as stainless steel bends in nuclear power plants, for example, in the area of the primary coolant system.
